The Journey of Caregiving: A Personal Reflection
For a year and a half, I had the privilege of caring for both of my parents. Caregiving is more than meeting physical needs—it’s about love, empathy, and unwavering dedication. My father struggled with poor circulation, and my mother faced the challenges of dementia. Their care became my full-time responsibility, from managing medications and doctor appointments to ensuring their hygiene and well-being.
While the experience was deeply rewarding, it was also physically and emotionally taxing. Sleepless nights and stress took their toll, but with the support of nurses and my faith community, I found strength. In their final moments, I was honored to be by their side, offering the love and care they had given me throughout my life.
